Hey there say..... I know a bunch of you ride bikes and whatnot. My hog is sofaking sad and gassed that it is down to one speed. So, it you have a box of old ass bike parts that is just collecting mouse poop, here is what I need:
Some sort of D-railer. I have a shimano deore LX which apparently has a broken spring in the housing since it will not retract down to the small cog at all.
Some sort of crappy seat.... mine is 91% climbing tape and 9% Blitzo butt crease ooze.
Some sort of shifter dealeo. Mine are the flick style rigs that you press down on with your thumb at the handlebar. They are part of the brakes and are shimano STX. They have worked like crap for 15 years.
Let me know what ya got and how much for it.

Dude, I could probably fix you up no problem. Got a big box of assorted bike junk out in the gee-rage just hanging out. Not sure what's out there, but I can look and see what might work for ya. No charge. Hell, Felicia would probably buy you a beer just for getting it out of there.

Hell, I got a full on medium sized hardtail mountain bike I'll trade you for a portaledge?? How about them apples? You can even skip the fly. Check this out... it's the white one in front. Take special note of the brand name on the down tube... FETISH CYCLES!!! If that ain't karma, I don't know what is.  It's a nice rig... parts are a little dated...but most of it is XTR (top of the line at the time) and it runs pretty damn nice. Front shock, mechanical front disc brake, rear is V-brake. |

How many gears you runnin' over there? If that totally working, intact, awesome hardtail bike don't float yer boat... here's some parts and pieces... Rear derailleur... think it's 8 speed?  Seat... and seatpost...  7 speed Grip Shifters...might have brake levers around somewhere...  Genuine peace sign brake cable equalizer! (I just tossed that in 'cause I always thought it was kinda cool)  Combo shifters and brake levers... I'd guess these are 7 speed?  Some reflectors so Blitzo don't actually crap on the seat when some redneck tries to plow him some night weaving his way home from the Boom Boom Room.  |

now we are getting somewhere! Sooze is on the bad old parts program too.... A whole bike is a lot of parts, but we might need a "guest" bike..... hmmmm.... I can't imagine that we can't make a deal! Wait till Sooze finds out not only am I getting all sorts of parts but another bike too! She will be thrilled with my downsizing efforts!  |

I think these are exactly what is on there right now... 7 cogs on the back thingy. 3 on the front. The rig is a vintage (15+ years old?) Univega I think. Name is covered up with "BEEF" stickers. |

You have to adopt the program I have with some stuff. When I get a "new" one, one of the "old" ones has to go. Helps keep the avalance to a minimum. You can see how good I am at it with bike parts.  I took somethign like 14 old bike wheels (various road and mountain bike) down to Goodwill last year sometime. Just got sick and tired of moving them around. |

 Russ forgot to mention that he rarely rides a mountain bike; he fancies himself as a road biker from back in the day. Now granted we live off a dirt road so that changes some things but a 3rd mountain bike, 1 road bike and a unicycle? This is not downsizing.

I don't think so (brake in the hub), the only brake cable/lever is for the rear.
I've seen fatty rear hubs that had either internal 3sp gearing or wattage meters, but never a fat front hub. Almost looks like it could be a small generator to power the little headlight.

I'm currently in Sante Fe, NM (land of entrapment) and had only a couple of free hours at home after returning from the FaceLift, so I didn't get to look in my box of goodies...
I certainly have derailleurs and stuff... no problem sending them to the bicycling technology R&D division of Fish Products... but let me get home and photo them...

ugh... so much weirdshit to do... anyway, now that I've got my priorities straight, I assume the steelmnky has the goods, and I didn't have as much as I thought... here's derailleurs and shifters:  the front d. is a Shimano RSX Debbie has those "brifters" on her Trek, I found that dripping some penetrating oil into them is the best way to ungum the works... her's shift fine now... I thought I had my sexy (but old) Concours blue saddle (slightly used) but apparently I parted ways with it some time ago... that was the shizzle and I just built up another bike where I used a bunch of old parts here and there... |

Not sure if any of that will fit Ed.... I'm kinda a bolt on tard when it comes to bikes these days. Direct replacement seems about the easiest beside just buying a whole new bike 'cause a spring broke in my shifter. Thanks though and I'll look at Susans hog and see if that is stuff she needs to get back up and riding.
