Do these Batholith boulders look familiar?

Hutch mentioned you may have been around here.
They're about .750 mile down the Homestake pass road on the left and down a gully.
Lots of paintball marks, about 15 to 18 feet tall...

ok
thanks
bye

Hard climb, Jay--still hasn't gone, but Patrick worked out the 3 different sections with success.

A send one day, for sure:-)

You really need to get up there Jay.
I'm still blown away with the quality
of the climbing and the untapped potential.

I second Goatboys thoughts, a really sick area. If you like Vedauwoo, I guarantee you would like that place as well. The other area it really reminds me of is Woodson.  It is definitely worth a visit by anyone who enjoys steep, technical, crack climbing. It has some good face climbing too.

Cilley, I believe is in the PNW.  There is a rumor he is a FaceBook enjoyer of same sex slappin', so you could try that or just email him.  I would bet he is on his way to the Boogaloo deal-e-o ?

Thanks Will.  The elevation ranges from ~5000' feet down on the east side of the pass, ~6400' on top, and Butte is at ~5900 to the west. As you can see by the blog history, we climb pretty much year round out here, but most folks find it more comfortable from April-October, with July sometimes being rather warm...areas up top are more summer zones, where as during the winter we stay lower on the east side, which stays fairly dry through out the winter...though this last winter season we had to deal with some strange weather patterns, mostly weather coming up from the south rather than the from the west, which dropped more snow than usual...hopefully things will return to normal this year.

Mr. Cilley has left the building (Butte Batholith)

Good to climb with you, sir, if only for a day--and glad that you finally got to feast on a "Wop Chop" :-)

Lifted from the 'net for those curious about the Wop Chop:

Butte's best answer to the Colonel (KFC) is the Freeway Tavern which serves up sizzling hot fried chicken ($3.75 4-pc) and "jojos"  while a montage of infrequent patron, Evel Kneivel, looks down on you. If you ask the owner, "Muzzy" Ferroni, he'll spice up your meal with anecdotes about the Butte-born and raised daredevil. The Freeway also offers a traditional pork chop sandwich called "The Wop Chop." ($4.25 w/fries or Jo's) The Freeway sits half a block from Matt's Place and only a few yards from Interstate 90.

Dick stepped out of the trailer in my driveway early this morning to be greeted by an inch of snowfall. The weather lifted, and after he warmed up we headed out to the Batholith Desert--I car-toured him the Isolated Boulders, then walked him deep into the Druthers and turned him loose (too much going on at home for me go with).

The sun came out as I got back to the car--he had a smile on his face when I left:-)

He's still out here, jammin' cracks like a fiend--waking up to frost and climbing in 40-50 degree temps.

No precip, though, which makes the stone crisp and sticky:-)
