I am on the glide path into the VB! A slightly complicated week, but probably driving out on the 9th, perhaps arrive on the 10th and be there through the week leaving the next weekend sometime...

Looking forward, very much, to seeing y'all

Wish you could make it Will! We will try to carry on in your absence...

Knights of the Kingsbury

Grin Grin  Funny...and truly meaningful. You're a clever chap since the origin of Kingsbury means 'King's Manor' or fortress or gate...you probably knew that though...

Squat is on the list too Cool Hopefully my body can keep up with the wish list...

Many pictures to come...

EDIT: I know Squat is in the list for Pat, leading it is pretty much not in the cards for me...though I'd love to get a send on the TR in...just thought I'd throw a disclaimer in... Tongue

Not sure if I/we have divulged this before..... but on the Kingsbury thing..... in honor of those cool asssss knitted/crochet headbands you guys wear, out here in JT we now ask, "where is my Kingsbury?" when looking for our official OW headbands.  Mine is a bad sleeve of fleece that makes me look like Christopher Walken in the Deer Hunter.  Just wearing a Kingsbury gives me 1.387 extra letter grades.  All hail the "Kingsbury"

Here it is in action!

Truly a utilitarian garment, and absolutely true on calling it a Kingsbury. Hell, he might have perished in that pic above without one, it was damn cold that day.

got email from my mechanic... which is a bad sign... he's had problems establishing communication between the CPU and the OBDII output... so no 510 OW this year at the Boogaloo, but it should be at the FaceLift. And next year at Vedauwoo!

How's the communal dinner situation shaping up, Jay and I are organizing our food situation...

What can we contribute? any Bay Area goodies that would be nice to have? (Not that you guys don't have access)...

Surprise me...any Trader Joe stuff would go over well since we don't have them out here.
Otherwise bring what you like and I'm sure it will be appreciated...we're easy that way...especially if it has alcohol.

No can do on the Facelift this year, hopefully I'll be out for the Nose reunion shindig and can check out your VW then.

48 hours and counting for blast off to the Voo!!!

So how does a guy or gal get in on this?

The boogaloo operates on a sliding scale admission fee which may be mailed to me. If you prefer to be beaten in, your initiation fee is $35.  If you choose to be sexed in, that fee increases to $135,000.

See you there!

Nurse Ratchet and I will be leaving the SF Bay Area maybe probably sometime Saturday 08/09, and driving at a leisurely, green, reduced carbon, high mpg 55 mph, probably with an overnight stop or two when our old, tired, brittle senior bones need some down time.

I think that translates to sometime Sunday or Monday.   Staying most of the week; weather, motivation, and contingency plans dependent.

If my vaycay was a week longer, I'd relish the chance to have the ow greats hang the rope for me in Mecca, but I'm starting to need some money and would pretty much ruin my employablility if I bailed on my first week of work.  (Besides, I am kind of looking forward to school starting.  I'm going to go buy new pens in a little bit!)

it was for the anxiety, not the back... Roll Eyes

-------------------------------------

Here's my tech-tech-TR, and the info I gave over on ST:

So lately I've been messing around with Silverlight a new plug in that is pretty damn impressive. I used an associated freeware program(Deep Zoom Composer) to create this trip report.

The controls are similar to Google Earth in that you can pan around, and zoom with your mouse wheel. The photos are in high resolution(except the panos), but due to the plug in, it loads really fast.

Please check it out. It'll make you install the Silverlight plug in(1-2 minutes and works on MAC) but it's the same plug in used to view the xrez yosemite project as well...which if you haven't checked out, you really should...

if this goes over well, I'll do part 2 like this, and probably TRs in the future...

http://photozoom.mslivelabs.com/Album.aspx?alias=TKingsbury&album=6

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,

Tom

Yup, same deal, seems not PPC friendly.  Any darkside (MS) free work arounds?  i could send it to my young' un , on her newer rig  but that doesn't seem like something a responsible parent would  do, she probably get's enough nigerian spam as it is...

You can only install Version 1.0 on a Mac, I think Tom's thing was created in 2.0

Just installed and tried to use it, no love on a Mac G4 PowerPc, OSX 10.4.11, Safari 3.1.2

Mojede got it to work for him, but I'm not sure what Mac specs he is running...Though he is dropping through town tonight, so I'll ask what the deal is...

It'd be nice to get us all on the same page...

does the new xrez Yosemite thing work for y'all?

Yeah, I'm running almost the exact same set up as Will, tried it with firefox 2.05 as well, no dice.  Bet it's cool, though.

might there be a Unix version?

I'f been successful with the Yosemite exrez, but not sure if I did the newest one, though.  It occurs to me that my little brother leaves for Paris tomorrow, i'll sneak over there and see if I can get one of his nonmacs (some of them're staying behind) to run that.

Undecided

I saw Mojede last night, but I was in the middle of a card game and spaced on asking him the info...

I've been looking around for threads on this issue and found this:

http://silverlight.net/forums/t/20560.aspx

I also found that powerPC Macs aren't supported for 2.0...Lame.

http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx?v=2.0#sysreq

Guess I should post up a traditional style TR?

Thanks for posting that fix Tom.  It seems truly bizarre, but worked for me:

http://silverlight.net/forums/t/20560.aspx

FYI - the zooms and panning work, but if you hit that button on the right (home? re-center?), you get to start over with the monitor recalibration.  Don't hit that button.

Okay, I may have missrepresented the case, here's the straight pc-oop

"There are two latops at the house, but neither of them will be any use for this.  One runs linux & & don't have the+password for it.  The other is my main work machine.  It is awaiting service at the hands of our IT department.  Other than that, ther may be desktop top in one other closets, but it's a bit tricky:  it does run windows, but it's the simplified chinese version.  A power cord for that one is should be in left drawer under the bed in guest room.  The closet in the guest room might have the computer in it.
Probably best bet for quick turn around is a computer at the library."

Russ, were you on wideload's recent tower junket i think I caught wind of?
