If I can swing the extra days off, I'm going to try for it. If only to try the first six feet of every wide climb there.*
*I'm six feet 1 inch tall.

OK, I admit, I suck. I didn't pay much attention last time because my schedule was already set in stone (get it? heh, heh.) WHEN? Nurse Ratchet is ready to start packing right now. Ummm, I mean start sorting gear. Nevermind. When? Brutus

I'm in on something... someday I'll have my life back..... just wrapped up today the house rehab project with a renter on the way tomorrow...... now if I can make the 10 ledges and gaggle of haul bags before the next batch of orders rolls in...... I could be a contender! That Colonel trip is still looking good.....

Bugs are not generally a problem in Vedauwoo, though if you climb near a beaver pond it may be different. I've probably slapped fewer misqueetos in a lifetime in Vedauwoo than in a bad afternoon in Toulumne. (neither is as bad as michigan, yikes! Tick season is over by August , also.

With Jaybro, Scuffy, and the Kingsbury's (among others), I'm thinking we got some formidable OW talent showing up for the Vedauwoo fest.

I just rounded it out to included those two weekends in August. There were two different waves of people visiting last year depending on their schedule so I figured we could follow the same scenario this time. I plan to be there both weekends.

Sherman Granite is the granite you compare all other granite to, mostly.

Any Bay Area folks going and interested in sharing a ride? Either driving all the way or flying and driving? Looking through the posts here and on SuperTopo it's hard to tell who's going when and from where.
I probably can't do a whole week, but I'm open to the possibility.

Keep in touch, Alex, I'm apt to be in for the duration, possibly longer, but I will have an open seat either direction. I think there are a bunch going from here to there. To anyone, I may be able to do some DIA ferrying, as well.

I'm looking to split the ride fo shua. Probably the earlier part of the time in August, and probably not an entire week.
Where are you located Alex?
I'm still waiting on taking the time off from work, just changed roles, but hoping to get several days around a weekend.
I've made it to SLC in a single shot. Can Veed be driven in a single shot from the Gray Area?

Jaybro, thanks, I'll keep an eye on this thread.
Mungeclimber, I'm in Belmont. I have a wedding to be at on the 22nd, so the earlier part of the month probably works best for me too.

took 80 out from Livermore to Vedauwoo... did it with a stop driving with Elcapinyoazz... on the way back I just went straight thru, a bit brutal by myself.
Last year a bunch of us camped near the Nautilus, but the main encampment was off in the woods, for free... depends on when you get there what you do.. we were first, so we didn't know where the setup was going to be.

Here's the map to the free camping area some of us stayed at last year; http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/wy/vedauwoo/588932266The road in is easy and can be made in a low clearance car. There’s also plenty of room to spread out if you want a little privacy from the campfire crowd. The main campground is about a mile down Vedauwoo Glen Rd just off I-80 and is your typical forest area camp with hosts, potable water, and toilets.

I can't leave Livermore any earlier than Saturday, 8/9 and I am scheduled back at work on Tuesday, 8/19
Depending on the state of 510OW, I may be looking for a ride share... Brutus was talking at Wide Wednesday about scheduling... thought I'd get mine up and see how it all meshes... I'll talk to my mechanic tomorrow for the weekly update, we were waiting for a starter adapter, or a starter. I need a couple of weeks at least to make sure I won't set a towing record.
If I go by 510OW, I'd warn anyone that the trip may be the whole adventure!

Back to the WOO! Are you guys going pay camping again at the start again or no? I think Tom and I are in! I wanna try the 'big pink', 'squat' (again and again), maybe that Iron Madien, but it looks insane. Are you gonna try and visit Frank at the tower aswell Jay?
