I usually only look for Kaukulators or Syncros, but I decided to look at hardware. I bid on a #5 Friend (by accident, I thought it said #6).
So, then I looked for BigBros. There's somebody, seems like a pro, with a "buy it now" for $89 on a #3, but instead of "bid" it says "make an offer" what's a good offer for these things? Which sizes do I want, 2 & 3?
I offered $35 bucks (new in package) so it probably ain't gonna happen, but I only have to wait a couple hours for the guy to laugh at me...

Valley Giant search? yeah, yeah, fairly obscure. All good. Valid. Tom builds good gear.

Oops, I didn't see this. I went up there for Sunday and Saturday Night. 4 or 6 climbers heading up to Column of the Giants (sport climbing) Addison's car at Lost World, nobody else. A few short easy solos. Some fists and heel/toes were included.

What the deal with this one? It says "new", but I thought the last models were green? Is this an older version, or just a washed out pic? http://tinyurl.com/4fhlfcg

Stephane at the Nut Museum has laid it all out. In fact, his avatar picture on Supertopo is all FIVE variations of the #6 Friend arrayed as a star. First variation is the silver cam with small plastic trigger. the outer cam lobes have a huge camstop which extends inboard of the inner lobes. The trigger wires attach to this, so all the wires are inboard of the inner cam lobes. Second variation, same arrangement but with red cam lobes. Third variation: red lobes but a bigger trigger, and the trigger wires come between the inner and outer lobes, same as with all the smaller sizes. Wild Country was deemed to be infringing somebody's patent, like maybe DMM or HB. Fourth variation: like the Third, but they decided to have different colored cam lobes for all sizes, instead of every size silver (originally) or every size red, thus the green cam lobes. Fifth variation: they worked out their legal difficulties and returned to the trick lobe and trigger wire arrangement, with green lobes.
Totally clear? I've got version three, four and five. Jaybro has version one, at least. I haven't seen version two.

Just checked. Like Scuffy said, i've got a 1, and the other one is a three, apparantly. Did they stick with the bigger trigger in later models?
Enough to drive a dyslexic nuts!
