All you waterlogged BAWC guys check your calendars.  Perhaps a long weekend WideFest is in order?  Mull it over.  JT, BBQ, booze, excrement talking, blood, more booze, more blood, and maybe even some wide.

Gary has been jonesing to get back to JT sometime soon... Maybe President's Day? I have 2/18 off so a multiday weekend (assuming I don't sit on a jury, which is an outside possibility).

Down on Thursday, climb F,Sa,Su and M morning then back? could work.

And 510 OW might be ready by then (I can always dream!)

It is waterlogged up here

I'll be there (Pres. Day weekend) weather-permitting.  The plan was high volume, low grades, minimum discomfort (i.e. probably not a mass assault on an obscure overhanging ow)...but I'm an easy sell for the after party.

Russ...you should get the story of the Valley Giant leading to gear recovery from guy w/ tatooed eyelids for your TR archive over here.  It was one of best bits of wide-ica (although only tangentially so) that I've seen in a while.

I could get a sub for that Friday (I can tell I'll be sick) I'd have to ditch class thursaday night, but I've been guilty of worse things.

That IS a good story! I only got as far as the undercover cop pulling his gun on the alleged gear theif's accomplice when I had to go back to being a teacger.

Here's how it's shaping up as I gather -

a crew will blast down on Thursday 2/14
climbing:
PhatFriday participation 2/15
StoutSaturday 2/16
SatedSunday 2/17

some may blast back on Sunday night, others climb MassiveMonday 2/18 and blast afternoon...

Who? so far
Gary Carpenter
Jaybro
Ed (my shoulders hurt) Hartouni
scuffy_b
spyork (?)

In area logistics?
where to stay (default to the Park camping)
what to bring (beside wide, supplies)
apres-ascendre activities

tic-list?

EDIT: CHANGED THE DATES (due to old age and bad eyesight)

The legal holiday is the 18th. That would put a potential Wide Friday on the
15th, just after the ending of Diet Challenge 08.

I'm here and Sooze should be too....  firm up the crew and I'll see whats up for festivities.  At a minimum we'll eat dead animal, drink, top rope, and talk excrement about guys doing Equinox.

Anyone with special needs should contact me well ahead of time.

Sorry for the goof...I posted this in the other thread.

I can offer a potential car pool, but have my own bivy and climbing and plans, so I can't do in town transport once we're there.  But if someone is looking for a ride down and wants to go Fri. a.m. and come back on Monday night after sundown, lemme know!

I'm in for the social part...and I got a special FISH themed present at the chachka store the other day.

As far as tic lists go, I am looking to lead some wide stuff on the easier side. I know nothing, got no guide books, etc.

I will try to TR anything you throw out there tho...

Zander lead some cool chimney from his last trip. I saw photos of it.

Do any of these apply to you?

  • Requirement to keep your skin on bone?

Not interested in getting your KNOTT caught in an OW?

Accidentally (planning) on forgetting your tape/neoprene/desire?

    Puking over-rated?

You're afraid of the Triple Crown?
Join some of the girls at New Jack on Saturday and still be back in time for BBQ.

This is a sanctioned alternative - all genders welcome.

Requirement to keep your skin on bone?
we long since eliminated any such requirement... however, high tops are desired (and I may have none for this event, so bloody ankles are going to be my lot)

Not interested in getting your KNOTT caught in an OW?
we're old guys, this is about the level of trouble our KNOTT is going to be involved in...

Accidentally (planning) on forgetting your tape/neoprene/desire?
not a chance after Russ' shipment... as for desire, wasn't that a streetcar?

Puking over-rated?
I'm a certified belayer with a puke-on experience, ask Jaybro...

You're afraid of the Triple Crown?
cola? they shoot horses, don't they?

We'll be moaning up a storm... but wide is where we'll be...

god save our heathen soles...

Backyard Bivy info:

Here's what we've got at the luxurious FISH Compound:

One bedroom:  me and sooze
Other bedroom: wideload and felicia
Living room:  queen sized futon (snuggle up buttercups?)
Floor space:  not much

Backyard:  Already set up as an overflow for Thanksgiving, a big dome tent.  Two won't be tight... three is sorta cozy.  Two 4" foam pads are living in there right now

I also have a regular small single tent that I can set up if somebody does not want to bring theirs.  There is also a couch that is under the back patio that ain't bad.

Start divvying it up... anyone with odd medical problems or weak bladders?  I can get you well away from the masses out on the back 40....

We'll be rolling in some time Friday night probably to the pit.
