Can you put a 2 x 4 behind a 6" cam to get 8", and if so then do you have to use tape or string or just throw it in there?  Thanks.

Sure... but it is really only 7.5" due to the way lumber is measured.  Drill a hole, tie some string, clip in in with the cam.  If you are trying this while free climbing, you are a bolder he/him/they/us than me.

if you were working on an old 30's and earlier home build up close to the mountains under wilson; altedena pasadena sierra madre monrovia, something, duerte

those where all framed with redwood and its boards are all spot on their name.


i suppose theirs an issue of cracking them as your cam press at the wood.
what way would you align the woods grain in use??
