Hi WideFetishists, warm greetings from over the pond and I used to correspond with a few of folks before the demise of Supertaco!
Anyway a few of you may be interested in a wee video I made called "Once Upon a Time in...Holyhead" featuring my friend Andrew Walker who had a life changing motorbike accident over 12 years ago. This resulted in the loss of his right arm, a load of metalwork in his legs, a loooong time spent in a wheelchair followed by years of rehabilitation.
Remarkably Andrew returned to his great passion of rock climbing and here he revisits his favorite sea cliff venue, Gogarth near Holyhead in North Wales to attempt one of the great rock climbs in the UK called "A Dream of White Horses".
Andrew has a very special relationship and a myriad of memories of Gogarth having climbed literally dozens of routes spanning decades of climbing at the White Cliff.

The video is best viewed in 4K so any constructive feedback welcome and I really hope you enjoy the vid over a beer or brew!
Happy Climbing
Dave

I thought that was the route that Henry Barbour soloed and said he almost spit off of the thing at the Crux it was the closest he'd ever come to Falling while soloing maybe I'm thinking of something else and have it wrong what are you going to do I'm old. The TV thing I was thinking of was Him and Pete livsey but they did it with a rope on the TV show American Sportsman

Many thanks Ron and sorry for the delay in responding as things have been quite surreal over the pond, as they obviously have been in the US and all over the world...
Anyway I guess Wild World of Sports is an old US programme so maybe one of the other WideFetishists has recollection of this!
Cheers

So where is all those lurking climbers who complain there is never climbing topics on forums?? Shouldnt they be posting here ?? :o :o

Haha...it’s a sham Ron... they just want to play grabass politics all day long.

Hey baldy... yeah wild world of sports was a weekly program of all kinds of sports.. also was American Sportsman (i think) and a couple of others including Thats Incredible that showed some rock climbing from time to time. Poor productions at best, but at the time it was all we had going.

Yeah, listening to Curt Gowdy doing commentary for a rock climb was what was surreal.

Werner and Kauk on the Nose was a good one.... and the Arrow Tip with Moffatt and Kauk, with Largo and I think Bob Beatty doing the play by play.... Largo had some gems on there.... “smooth as your garage door” or “like trying to shimmy a kite string draped over a bowling ball”, and the classic “bereft of wrinkle notch...”. Ho man! Funny shit

I remember that too. The man can turn a phrase.
